Rose City Qualify for the 2027 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup
By reaching the UPSL National Championship game, Deportivo Rose City earned one of the UPSL's two automatic entries into the 2027 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is the oldest national soccer tournament in the United States, and in 2027 Deportivo Rose City will be part of it for the first time in club history.
The berth was secured the moment Richard Stewart's stoppage-time header beat Central Kansas United in the National Finals semifinal — a reward for a season that began as a grassroots effort in Portland and ended on the national stage at UCLA.
For a club founded in 2020 out of an indoor soccer group, playing in the same tournament as MLS clubs is a milestone that reflects everything Rose City stands for: community, development, and the belief that Portland's working-class soccer culture belongs at the top level.
